Can BOTOX® Cosmetic Be Used for Anything Other Than Wrinkles?

Dr Kenkel Performing Injection Treatment

Can BOTOX, botulinum toxin, be used for anything other than wrinkles?

Dallas plastic surgeon Dr. Kenkel answers:

It is important to remember that botulinum toxin treats what we call “dynamic” wrinkles or lines that form from the activity of the underlying muscles. BOTOX does not treat static lines or lines from repetitive use of those muscles or from sun damage. We treat those types of lines with either filler products or some type of skin treatment (peel/laser). And more men are turning to BOTOX and fillers to rejuvenate their skin.

Other uses of botulinum toxin may include the treatment of hyperhidrosis or migrane headaches. Specific criteria are required for consideration of insurance coverage. We can determine whether you are a candidate for such procedures.
