CoolSculpting: Nonsurgical Body-Contouring Treatment
Coolsculpting is a new alternative to non-surgical fat reduction. Fat cells can be stubborn and resistant to diet and exercise. These cells can settle around the mid section and are commonly referred to as love handles, muffin tops and back fat. For this type of fat, CoolSculpting can help.
CoolSculpting is a treatment offered by Dr. Kenkel to help patients eliminate fat without having surgery. The treatment can be performed on a patient’s back, arms, thighs, abdomen and flanks. It is associated with no pain and with minimal downtime.
Am I A Good Candidate?
During your consultation with Dr. Jeffrey Kenkel, he will determine if you are a good candidate for the treatment. Typically, patients within 20 percent of their optimal weight and patients who are at their stable weight but have persistent fat deposits are good candidates for CoolSculpting. He will also determine whether your skin elasticity is good for the treatment.
CoolSculpting should not be thought of as a replacement for diet, exercise, or even surgery. Dr. Kenkel can provide tips on lifestyle changes, including healthy eating habits. If he finds that you are not a good candidate for the treatment, he offers a variety of other safe and effective body contouring alternatives.
How Does CoolScultpting Work?
After your consultation and evaluation by Dr. Kenkel, an individualized treatment plan will be developed for you to achieve your goals. The treatment takes about one to two hours and is performed in his office. On your visit for the treatment, Dr. Kenkel will apply CoolSculpting technology to freeze the fat cells underneath the skin. The fat cells will gradually die over a period of a few months and are eliminated naturally from the body. Results from the treatment can be seen in two to three weeks after a CoolSculpting treatment and the full results can be seen about three months after the treatment.
With all body contouring treatments and surgery, results are more effective for patients who exercise regularly and maintain a healthy diet. Outcomes can be permanent if a healthy weight is maintained.
