I was asked about improving the shape of the upper abdominal area during a tummy tuck here in my Dallas office. What is the best way to do this? There are several things that can contribute to fullness in this area:
- Weakness of the abdominal wall
- “Visceral” fat, often around the intestines
We address all of these during a tummy tuck, except the fat on the inside. I routinely perform liposuction in this area to help thin out the area (which normally has a bit more fat) I feel strongly that lipo-abdominoplasty techniques, often with the addition of breast enhancement (we call this a “mommy makeover” in our Dallas practice), provide our patients with the best shape possible.
