Lasers are used for cosmetic treatments and surgeries and can improve the look and feel of the skin and help improve the damage caused by sun exposure, heredity, and lifestyle factors. Lasers have advanced tremendously over the last several years, allowing for both ablative (surface injury), non-ablative treatments (no surface injury) and non-laser light tissue interactions options for the cosmetic patient.

Dr. Jeffrey Kenkel is the director of the Clinical Center for Cosmetic Laser Treatment, located in Dallas, Texas. He is board certified in plastic surgery. He specializes in the most current laser resurfacing technology available today. Below are some of the laser resurfacing options available in his Dallas clinic.

  • Skin health restoration

What type of laser resurfacing and non-laser light tissue interaction treatments does Dr. Kenkel offer in his Dallas clinic?

What is ablative laser resuracing?

Types of ablative lasers: Fractional CO2 (Fraxel, Active and Deep FX), Erbium

Ablative resurfacing is a laser procedure where layers of damaged skin are removed by vaporization from a laser. Heat is used to evaporate water from the exposed tissue, which not only removes the skin but also stimulates the collagen.

Ablative laser treatments that can either remove the top layer of skin or create small holes (similar to aerating a lawn) in the skin for the purpose of resurfacing.

Ablative laser treatments are considered to be a more aggressive type of treatment compared to non-ablative lasers because they target the epidermis (the outermost layer) and the dermis (the layer below the epidermis).

To read more about how these lasers can help you, visit the Fractional/ CO2 , Microlaser Peel/Erbium and Erbium Laser Resurfacing section of Dr. Kenkel’s website. To view real patient before and after photos, visit the laser resurfacing photo gallery.

What is non-laser light tissue interaction?

Types of non-laser light: Photorejuvenation (Intense Pulsed Light), Levulan Photodynamic Therapy

Non-laser light tissue interactions are a non-invasive skin health and restoration treatment that erases the damage inflicted to your skin from sun, aging and biological factors. The patented non-laser technology supplies a broad spectrum of light, which reaches deep down to all the levels of the skin targeting pigment and vascular imperfections. This will treat both “reds” and “browns” with the same device.  To read more about how these non- lasers light tissue interaction procedures can help you, visit the Photoreuvenation and Levulan photodynamic therapy section of Dr. Kenkel’s website. To view real patient before and after photos, visit the laser resurfacing photo gallery.
