What is ablative laser resuracing?Types of ablative lasers: Fractional CO2 (Fraxel, Active and Deep FX), Erbium Ablative resurfacing is a laser procedure where layers of damaged skin are removed by vaporization from a laser. Heat is used to evaporate water from the exposed tissue, which not only removes the skin but also stimulates the collagen. Ablative laser treatments that can either remove the top layer of skin or create small holes (similar to aerating a lawn) in the skin for the purpose of resurfacing. Ablative laser treatments are considered to be a more aggressive type of treatment compared to non-ablative lasers because they target the epidermis (the outermost layer) and the dermis (the layer below the epidermis).
